2025 Deadline Fast Approaching

The closing date for entries for the 14th annual Goole and Howdenshire Business Excellence Awards is fast approaching.

 

Anyone who is interested in applying but has not yet got round to completing and submitting their entry form is reminded that the final deadline is midnight on 31 January, 2025.

 

Garrey Haase, Chair of the committee of local volunteers who organise the awards ceremony each year, said: “The entry form is really quick and easy to fill in, so it’s well worth sparing half an hour to shout about your successes. With 12 different categories to enter, including a couple of brand new ones, there’s a category to suit businesses of all sizes and from all sectors.”

The 12 categories for businesses to enter this year are as follows:

 

Long-standing Business of the Year (sponsored by Invest East Yorkshire): This new category is aimed at businesses established on or before 1 January 2015.

 

Family Business of the Year (sponsored by Link Agency): This category is aimed at businesses that are, or have been, run by several members of, or successive generations of, the same family.

 

New Business of the Year Award (sponsored by Danbrit): For new businesses that were launched on or after 1 January 2023.

Small Business of the Year Award (sponsored by Grotech Productions Ltd): For businesses that employ ten people or less.

Large Business of the Year Award (sponsored by Chronicle Publications Ltd): For businesses that employ more than ten people.

Hugh Walton Contribution to the Community Award (sponsored by H Walton Ltd): For businesses that go ‘above and beyond’ to help and support the local community.

Charity of the Year Award (sponsored by Jos Richardson & Son): This category is aimed at non-commercial organisations from the charity, voluntary or community sector that make a tangible difference to the local community through their activities.

Environmentally Friendly Business of the Year Award (sponsor to be confirmed): This category is aimed at businesses that work hard to minimise the impact of their activities on the environment.

Marketing Excellence Award (sponsored by Filstorage): For businesses that have developed and implemented an innovative marketing strategy that’s had a measurable impact. 

Training and Development Award (sponsor to be confirmed): This category is aimed at businesses that champion and invest in their employees by giving them the opportunity to develop their careers and learn new skills.

Self Employed/Micro Business of the Year Award (sponsored by Sowerby Chartered Accountants): This category is for the self-employed, including sole traders and freelancers.

Team of the Year Award (sponsor to be confirmed): This award celebrates the many ways in which staff pull together to create the best outcomes for their company, and for one another.

As in previous years, the independent judging panel will also be asked to select an Overall Business of the Year Award from the entrants, and the organising committee will nominate someone to receive the Tim Richardson Lifetime Achievement Award.
